I’ll speak a bit about teaching then, because it’s such an important part of the Gnostic work. How many are actually training to be teachers? Oh ok, that’s quite a few. Alright, so do you understand the responsibility that we have as teachers; that we are passing on this information, which people really don’t have?
This is not well known in the mainstream yet. Although aspects of it have been – or are - well known to a certain degree, the actual Gnostic teaching in its whole is not that well known. And that’s a real pity because it means that people are not getting this message, they’re not getting the message of Gnosis; therefore, people are not having this opportunity to change, and to do this which we are practising. And that’s a great opportunity missed for everybody.
And not having Gnosis in the world, I think, makes the world a worse place. Because there is no real alternative, there is no alternative to getting rid of egos - only to have them and the world is suffering enough. There’s all this madness going on. We’re in this beautiful environment, but people are ripping nature apart. Just for greed and profit, so they can have a newer car, more money, a bigger house, bigger stereos, and computers, and all this.
And, nature’s being destroyed; beauty’s being destroyed. Overall, humanity lacks a sense of beauty. A sense of beauty allows us to perceive the things of nature, and to feel them within us, in a, really in a kind of spiritual way, because what perceives that beauty is the essence, it’s consciousness, this is what’s perceiving beauty. And the people who are ripping down the trees and turning the land into desert, those people have very, very little essence within them, or, the essence is almost completely smothered with egos. That’s why they like to go out and slaughter the wildlife, and take pleasure in it - and then those that have a bit of awareness wonder how they could do such a thing. It’s because the egos are strong and are dominant. And in the animal world, that’s what we see, we see animals killing each other. Some even do it for pleasure. And I think as human beings, that’s not a way to be, that’s not a way to live.
This is why we need to help others; in helping others we get strength. We become part of that whole system and we also then are agents to bring about change in the world, to bring about a transformation within individuals. And I say individuals because as a whole, humanity really doesn’t want to change, so don’t get too disappointed. Most people are just in love with their lower emotions, with that pleasure and pain, and don’t want to give it up. And for that reason, destruction, wars, famine, and all this will continue in the world. It’s a natural consequence of the animal way of living. But the message can get across to individuals who are out there. Individuals who, whose essence is a bit stronger, individuals who wish to find something spiritual, individuals who wish to change but don’t know how. By getting the message across, we take it to those people wherever they are in the world, and give them this marvellous opportunity: this great opportunity that we have, to make something fantastic out of our lives, something wonderful - to prepare ourselves for more than this life.
So we have this opportunity, and therefore, it’s our responsibility not only to practise it, but also then to teach it. By doing that, it’s going to work for us. We rely upon spiritual help to make all of this happen. Nothing comes to us because we are a particular individual. Nothing comes to us because we think we deserve it. Spiritual rewards, spiritual faculties, they come to us because we feel unworthy to receive them; they come to us because we know our own spiritual impoverishment, and because we know that we can change and we do change, so that we become worthy to accept the spiritual gifts which are offered. It’s never us that are spiritual, never. If we are prepared, then the spiritual can work through us, but we never have those powers. We - we are wretched individuals, who can change and out of divine mercy can become merged with the truly spiritual, which can then save us.
