Talks in Quebec 2004
A talk with a group of students on a retreat in Quebec, Canada.

Introduction
Belzebuub: While we’re here, what we should try to do is to learn how to practice properly within daily life, because there’s plenty of opportunity to carry out different sit-down practices within the centre. We’ll also gear everything towards the astral practices at night.
Those are the things that I really want to focus upon. But there’s also the benefit of everybody who’s involved with the teaching coming together. One aspect of this is the strength that comes from a gathering. The other is to really see that everybody’s part of a team. In some cases people are just teaching online, and many people are quite isolated in these two big countries. It’s not like in
The Intensity of Practice
What I want to explain now is how to practice throughout the day, because we want to make use of each moment that we're here in this place. When we're not aware or in observation, then we lose that moment in terms of the work. Having gone to so much effort and cost to come here, we want to really get the most out of it. Now, that is an individual thing.
We can all be in this room physically, but it doesn't mean that we're all here psychologically. Obviously, to get the most out of it, we need to be here psychologically, so that we use each moment. If we are receptive, then we can be taught. If, as a group, we are really trying, then the spiritual hierarchs will take an interest in this group and in this place. And then, more teachings can take place: internally, in the dreams in the astral, but also through the perception. That's the perception within the moment.
Don't think that we can't learn and see new things just because this is the physical world. We can, but we need to put the work in to do it.
It's really fundamental that we understand not to waste the moment, not to waste every opportunity. We can come here and absolutely waste it by not doing anything. We can be like the people on holiday in those other chalets who come for a nice trip to the countryside. But that's not what we're here for; we're here for something different. We're here for something psychologically revolutionary.
So, what is it that we're trying to get within each moment? Why would we want to be in the moment? We’ve got to have some overriding reason, because there is something else, which is pleasure. This is what most people are doing within each given moment: pursuing pleasure, or, running away from pain. We can come here in order to pursue pleasure and go canoeing or something like that, whatever the people do in this place. Some of them shoot the wildlife - they take pleasure in all sorts of things. So, we're not after that pleasure; we're here for a different reason.
There's got to be something that we think is more important than that pleasure, which has really got hold of everybody else who's not practising this.
