There is no absolute freedom, as the individual is part of something bigger – whether it is nature or the spirit.
Belzebuub: Ok then; let’s begin… Freedom - well, we’ve all got choices that we make in life. You know we choose for example, to be here in this talk, and this is something that we should really try to understand, because it’s in our own interest to make the right choice at any given time. And freedom allows us to make these choices.
Freedom gives opportunity, and its restriction cuts down our opportunities. So it’s little wonder we hold freedom in quite, well quite high in our list of values. But freedom also brings the need for responsibility. And it brings about the question: what is free to do what? So the trouble is that much of the psyche is unknown to the average person. There are different drives and different desires, and they crave to be fulfilled. A lot of these influence each person beyond their understanding or knowledge. So, these which are referred to are animal drives, which put us in that dog-eat-dog world of nature’s survival of the fittest. So freedom can come to mean an unrestricted behaviour, which arises from the animal drives. So that’s probably a bit different to what we had thought.
But you see nature has its laws and sometimes these can be quite brutal, so that each animal struggles for survival - some win, some lose - but ultimately, every single individual creature loses in this brutal battle of nature. A bigger animal for example comes to eat it, or it gets injured, old age comes, natural disasters just take its life away or leave it crippled. So animals, they do have their freedoms, which vary from one animal to another - some for example are in zoos, others are in the wild, others are pets - but each is restricted according to its type. So an animal will always be an animal, no matter how its life is. It can’t stop being that animal; it can’t rise to be spiritual. And that’s the fundamental difference between us and them - between us and animals - because we potentially have the freedom not to live an animalistic life. For many of us, that’s a choice that we can make.
But spirituality requires us, or rather, it requires the sacrifice of lower animalistic states for it to succeed. And this presents us with a choice: whether we restrict our freedom to do what our drives want us to do, in order to pursue spirituality, or, whether we don’t restrict our drives, and take the consequences of that - the consequences being that circle of nature. Unfortunately though, a lot of people actually believe that they can have both, that we can be indulging our drives, following our drives, and, following a spiritual search, or a spiritual path at the same time. But, that’s not the case. The two are just not compatible. There’s no accord, there’s no harmony, there’s no ‘like’ between the spiritual and the animal. One has to be sacrificed for the other to take place, for the spiritual to take place, because the life of the spirit depends upon the death of the animal within, or the death of all those animalistic drives within.
And if we choose this, we’re going to have to be prepared to sacrifice our desires, and to do things that benefit the spiritual - even though we might not want to. If we do take up this spiritual path, we take up the spiritual work, then, we walk towards the light. As we go along, we shed the animal within us. And as it progresses, the path of the light becomes increasingly narrow as it goes along. As this happens, it’s only the absolute obedience to the Father, the Being, who we don’t see, that can guide us and save us. And, by save us, I mean from that nature and that world of nature, and that wheel that turns; and it turns towards the Abyss. One step in the wrong direction can spell disaster. And if we’re on this path, at a point, if we go far enough on it, then it’s only the light of the Father which illuminates like a tiny spark of light, a point of light, that can lead us and lead the way through this terrible all-encompassing darkness. It’s the animal within us, the subconscious, which is the darkness. It’s that which we need to get free of.
Ok, I’ll take some questions now.
Q: So, my question is: since mankind is governed mainly by fears and desires, that are egos - which as I’ve heard they are as sins - and since time is just another dimension we can’t see, is there space for free will?
Belzebuub: Yes, that’s an important question because it makes us really wonder how much of what we do is free…
If we are in this program of nature, what exactly is our free will? Is it the ability to choose between certain options? But if that’s the case, then what exactly is it that’s choosing? Is it the desire? Is it the thought? What is it - what’s behind the choice we’re making? If we are simply in nature’s program or the wheel, then it’s the animal desires, the animal instincts, which are choosing for us - even though we might think that we’re free to choose whatever we want.
But there’s a different kind of free will, which is outside of this animal program. And that’s the will of the Spirit, the will of the Glorian, of the Father. This we could say is free will, but it’s not our will anymore. It’s only when our will merges with that of the Father that we are truly free. And there’s a, it seems, a contradiction in that. But the spiritual, is freedom.
You know they estimate that about 35% of people have premonitions. Imagine, 35% of people have premonitions in their dreams. Things which are going to happen in the future are seen. Then, what is the freedom in the choices in order to make something like that happen, in order to make something materialize that appeared in a dream? What about all of the different events which would need to change or need to happen in life for that premonition to come true? There are many many different things. Someone can have a premonition that can appear 10 years later in life. Then how much of that person’s life is truly free and how much is pre-ordained, how much is destiny?
You see, we think we’re free, but we only have limited choices. Everyone has choices according to their circumstances. The choices are to a greater or lesser degree, depending on each individual. But there are many many forces at play. And premonitions show that things are known in advance. So, this freedom of the animal is not really freedom. The only real freedom is to merge our will with the spiritual. And like I said earlier, that takes the sacrifice of the animal in order to do it.
Q: Hi. I was just wondering, during your talk you mentioned something about how a step in the wrong direction could lead to disaster at certain times… I was just wondering if you could maybe elaborate on that, or how it might apply to us, sort of at the stage that most of us are at?
Belzebuub: Well, everyone who’s starting out is more or less in a state of disaster, even though they don’t know it. So, the steps can wander all over the place, and disaster is the same.
But if we want to get out of this, then we need to do the right thing in order to get out. And that means taking up this path and gradually walking upon it. To do that, we have to go through different tests. These are tests which are put in life and in a way like premonitions; they come from the other dimension, the other plane, and materialize here. We don’t have to do anything in order to make these tests, these situations, happen. In these tests, we have choices to make. Things can be put to us: for example, we can have a job that we really really like, and suddenly a great opportunity comes up in that job; but, if we take that opportunity, it will prevent us from walking on this path in a serious way. We have a choice - like a fork - if we step along the other way, if we take that job and we leave aside this path for another time, we won’t move from there if it was a test, we will stay stuck; that would be the end. We’ll stay then locked in that program, locked in the cycle of everything as it passes. And in that way we can get sidetracked and take the wrong step off. And there are many many many different routes off the path like that as it goes along.
As it progresses, it becomes ever more difficult, it becomes extremely complex, to the extent that a movement to one side or another throws it off - even though that movement could be to do something good, that could be the wrong thing to do. The slightest deviation can take us away. Not only that, but the path itself becomes lost in darkness and confusion. So then, you take a step not knowing where your foot is going to land, even whether you’re in the right direction. And then there’s that little beam of light that can illuminate the way, and that’s complete obedience to the Being. So, that’s further along the line, but it’s the same principle which essentially applies throughout, from the beginning. It’s the sacrifice of the animal and the overcoming of desires and the choices that we make for the spiritual rather than the material. We choose the material and we’ve stepped off the way.
Q: Well, how do you make sure that the things that you’re really doing are, you know, that you’re really choosing the spiritual, and that the choices you make are really doing that, by, I guess making sure that you’re not just following a set of instructions, but really doing things yourself, how do you know that what you’re doing is the right thing?
Belzebuub: Ok, as far as choices goes, you made a choice to be here and to listen to this talk? You could’ve done something else couldn't you? So in that way then, you choose different things, which are spiritual. You do then need to learn what the spiritual is, and how to begin to get there, and how to begin to reach it. You can’t look for the end of it before you’ve begun; you’ve got to look at the beginning and see what that involves. So, unless you have experience, you won’t know whether what you’re doing is right or not. Then, in the beginning your spiritual journey is much more about gaining experience and gaining knowledge - to know which way to go and what to do. That’s where the choices come in.
If you can choose to do something spiritual like you’ve done here now, in listening to this talk, then those are the choices that you’re making. And all the time then, you use them to learn - about spiritual things. And as you go, you actually experience things; you gain inner knowledge. And that inner knowledge, which is your own and which you stand by, is your guide at the beginning. Then, as you start to get closer to your own Being - I mean in a real sense - then that becomes your guide, and it leads you on the way.
I’m explaining things from what I know, from what I’ve been through, and then it’s up to anybody to just take that information and use it. It’s not a matter of believing in it; it’s a guide.
Q: Hi. I was just wondering: you said that we need to have obedience to the Father and the Being, and a lot of the time I try to do the will of the Father, and I try to pray to my divine Mother and my divine Father and ask them for guidance or try and do what they want from me, but sometimes I find it hard to see what they actually want. So like I might ask a question and sometimes I’ll get an intuitive feeling, or like I might get a dream which is telling me what I need to do, but other times when I ask them I find it really difficult to actually work out what it is that they want me to do. Like I might not, or, I might not seem to get an answer, or I might seem to maybe get an answer, but I don’t understand it. And I was just wondering if that’s - I’m just not asking in the right way, or, if I need to interpret my dreams better, or, I’m not sure?
Belzebuub: Sometimes the answer can come in different ways. Sometimes for example if we want understanding, then we can get a painful situation in our life that brings out different emotions in us, and if we go through it, we understand about those emotions because of that difficult time; so, we got what we asked for, but it was in a different way than what we had thought.
But it’s also - you’re question is quite related to the question before: how can we do the will of the Father in the beginning, if we don’t know what it is? And that’s a matter of doing the basic investigation, the basic search to get started with. And that’s doing different practices, studying yourself, studying psychology - how you function, how we think, feel, act - and learning about dreams, learning about out-of-body experiences; and then, if you do that, and you do it right, you can start to get the, these tests in your dreams, and then you know you’ve really started on the track. And if you’ve started to get rid of the ego’s, help others to progress spiritually, practise alchemy, then, you start going through more and more things in your dreams and you get information in the astral about it as well; and then, you can take your dreams, read descriptions of this path and see that what you’ve been through is just as it was described - in the order even that it was described in, and it becomes part of your life. It becomes part of your way of being to have astral experiences, dream experiences that are part of your path, that give something much more spiritual. These then become your guide.
Right - so you have this map, which is the teachings of Gnosis, and then, you have the guide, which you get through your own self-knowledge, your own practices, and your own experiences, which come from the other planes, the other dimensions. Then, by doing this, you are starting to do the will of the Being, of the Father. And as it goes along, it becomes clearer. In the beginning, it’s very very unclear, but it’s a matter of learning the practices, learning what it is you need to do, and then getting the guidance which comes to you in an individual way, in a personal way. If you do the practices, this will happen - it’s just mathematical, it will start to happen.
We’re just describing how to bake the cake, but it will happen if you do it. Then you’ll be able to go along the way and get the guidance that you need. So, just keep practising and make sure that you do what you need to do to be able to get to that hidden knowledge, which is your own personal knowledge.
